Concierge Internship Program

Opportunities for 2024-25 Academic Year

We are seeking high-achieving and reliable students who will be a junior, senior, or returning for a 9th/10th free semester for the 2024-25 academic year to fill internships with top Beloit area businesses. You will gain invaluable experience working in roles ranging from marketing, finance, accounting, computer programming, engineering, human resources, and more.

Requirements and benefits

  • Work 10 hours (or more) per week; must allow 3+ hour blocks in your day 2+ days per week. (Application decisions will be made before fall course registration, allowing you to align your calendar to meet this requirement.)
  • Begin August 23 and end May 1, subject to all school breaks (fall, winter, and spring). You must be able to work the full academic year.
  • Receive 2.0 units of credit, one for each semester.
  • Earn possible compensation: Most internships are paid, some are unpaid.
  • Engage in professional development and peer-to-peer reflection under the guidance of Tim Leslie (VP, Career & Professional Development) and your own Beloit College alumni mentor to enable success.

Companies and Roles

The following companies in the Beloit area have internship roles available:

  • Beloit Sky Carp are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. They are located here in Beloit. The role will involve work on marketing, customer service, and sales projects.
  • Corporate Contractors, Inc. (CCI) is a leading general contracting firm focused on new construction and adaptive reuse projects, offering a marketing role performing a wide range of marketing and quality control functions in support of construction projects.
  • First National Bank and Trust Company a local, family-focused community bank headquartered in Beloit, serving communities throughout Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, offering an accounting role
  • Fairbanks Morse Defense (FMD) builds, maintains, and services the most trusted naval power and propulsion systems on the planet. For more than 100 years, FMD has been a principal supplier of a growing array of leading marine technologies, OEM parts, and turnkey services to the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard. At least one role is available at FMD now working on their engineering team. A student with some engineering acumen is preferred. A second role is expected at FMD working on Requests for Proposals.
  • Geronimo Hospitality Group owns and operates businesses in the dining, lodging, golf, and fitness industries, offering two roles: one on its marketing team and one working with the Vice President of Blue Collar (its handcrafted coffee and expresso dining experience) on business operations (opening and operating stores).
  • Kerry Ingredients is an international leader in taste & nutrition innovation. They create food and beverage ingredients for people to enjoy and feel better consuming. The Kerry role has not been defined yet, but it is expected to either be in the marketing, supply chain, or human resources areas.
  • Mid-States Concrete Industries is a design-engineering company (it designs, engineers, produces and installs precast concrete elements and buildings), offering three roles: hybrid marketing/HR, computer programmer, and industrial engineer.

We expect to add one or two more companies as well as additional roles at the above companies in the coming weeks. We also will be posting more specific job descriptions for the above companies in the coming week; however, do not wait to apply as roles will be filled on a rolling basis, and all of these companies will provide roles that will help you develop key skills, gain work experience, and make business connections. 

Requirements for Participation

Successful candidates for the internship positions will:

  • Be a junior or senior (including students returning for the 9th/10th semester free) as of the fall 2024 semester.
  • Be able to work 10 hours per week in 3+ hour blocks during business working hours.
  • Demonstrate a history of responsible and highly dependable behavior.
  • Demonstrate you have developed job-ready skills through internships, jobs, community-based learning, certifications, and other skill development.

About the Impact Beloit Concierge Internship Program

Introduction

The Impact Beloit Concierge Internship provides high-achieving junior and seniors with paid internship opportunities within a Beloit area business to gain invaluable work experience and networking opportunities.

Students are overseen by Tim Leslie, the Vice President of Career & Professional Development, and each student has a Beloit College alum mentor to help them. 

An internship placement with any of the companies participating in this program will be extremely valuable for your skill and career development. As a Concierge Intern, you will gain valuable, hands-on experience working on projects integral to the operations of the business and develop and hone your professional skills. You will develop professionally through on the job experience, as well through faculty/staff and alumni advising and peer-to-peer sharing. The internship will give you excellent experience as you pursue future career paths and navigate future jobs.
