Young Alum Hits It Big in Radio

Within weeks of graduating, Dianne Lugo ’19 embarked on an impressive journalism career. After a brief stint writing for a publication in Los Angeles, Lugo got the opportunity to write, research, and produce for NPR’s acclaimed weekly broadcast, “Code Switch.”

Within weeks of her graduation from Beloit, Dianne Lugo’19 began writing for a publication in Los Angeles and soon won a prestigious internship at National Public Radio’s acclaimed Code Switch broadcast. Dianne assists the team to research and produce a weekly podcast focusing on race and culture out of their new office in Culver City, California. She also contributes to the show’s blog.

Dianne’s busy years at Beloit helped prepare her for a career as a journalist. She served as an editor-in-chief of and wrote for the college’s student newspaper, and she worked as a tutor in the college’s writing center. She graduated with a major in Biology and a minor in Journalism.
